Online Gateway Exam on Differentiation Techniques
The prerequisite for MATH 132 is a grade of C or better in MATH 131 (or HONR 131). A grade of C or better in MATH 131 requires that a student pass a "gateway" exam on differentiation techniques. This gateway exam is given online, and will begin on Wednesday, February 6 and end on Wednesday, April 17. It consists of seven problems, six of which must be solved correctly within 25 minutes, using only scratch paper and pencil, that is, NO hand calculators, formula sheets, computer programs and textbooks are allowed to be used during the gateway exam.
Online Access to the Gateway Exam on Differentiation Techniques:
The Gateway Exam on Differentiation Techniques is given online using WeBWork and can be accessed through the website at: http://webwork.citadel.edu/webwork2. At this website, please click on “Gateway-Derivatives” and then type in your username and password. Your username is: first name.last name (all in low case), for example, john.smith for John Smith, and your password for the first time is: M12345. Take a Practice Test for a Gateway Exam:
Before taking the Gateway Exam, you are strongly recommended to practice using the practice test for the gateway exam. Click on Take GatewayExam – Derivatives Practice Test to take a practice test. You will receive the test score and also see which problem is solved correctly or incorrectly at the end of the test after clicking on “Grade Test”. You can also print out a hard copy of a practice gateway exam with your answers.
Take a Gateway Exam:
Click on Take GatewayExam – Derivatives Test to take a gateway exam. In order for a passing grade (6/7 or higher) on a gateway exam to be recorded for his/her course grade, a student must take this gateway exam in the computer lab in the Academic Support Center (ASC) located in 117 Thompson Hall, which is open Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm and again from 7-10pm (http://www.citadel.edu/root/asc-about/hours-of-operation). A student can take a gateway exam at most TWICE per day. Steps to take a gateway exam at the ACS:
(1) Sign in with your name and your section (Dr. Mukherjee - Section 01 & 03, and Dr. Trautman – Section 02) by a center staff.
(2) Leave your bag with the center staff who has signed you in.
(3) Take the Gateway Exam on Differentiation Techniques in the computer lab in the ACS.
(4) Sign out by a center staff and get your bag.
Please do not take the practice test for the gateway exam in the ACS.
